Ada's Polish Pottery

Ada’s Pottery Cottage offers only the finest in Polish stoneware. Their pottery is supplied by an authorized distributor direct from the award-winning factory, Ceramika Artystyczna in Boleswiec, Poland.

This traditional art was started long ago by village craftsmen and peasants of Lower Silesia, who were first inspired by the wonder and beauty of the peacock’s tail coloring and design, thus the eye of peacock feather motif was born. Rudimentary tools such as carved potatoes were used to hand stamp patterns onto the clay. Today, the use of modern tools such as sea sponges have replaced these older techniques. Most pieces are no longer hand thrown, but each individual piece is hand painted by highly skilled artisans, and ultimately touched by more than 14 careful hands helping it through the production process before firing.

Once complete, the pottery continues to hold true to its incredible beauty, strength and uniqueness. The painters are trained for many years and a few become known as Unikat artists. Only those achieving the highest level of skill are awarded Unikat designation and may began to design their own works of art. These patterns are signed and numbered, and the decorations are highly sought after, which results in limited and hard to find pieces. Ada’s Pottery Cottage stocks a wonderful selection of the Signature and Traditional series line. Their showroom is over 950 square feet of Polish stoneware. All stoneware is safe for use in dishwashers, microwaves and ovens. It is free of all toxins such as lead or cadmium. We carry only the finest, first quality stoneware. We invite you to our showroom to experience the rich, visual poetry of Polish stoneware.
