Paper Fling:
Paper Fling is a family run business, owned and operated by Ruth, Paul, and Caleb Song. We provide wedding and event invitations and offer a retail selection of hip, fun, and whimsical greeting cards and gifts that you won’t find anywhere else.
Paper Fling’s humble roots can be traced back to 2003 when Ruth-social worker by day, invitation maven by night-decided to create custom wedding invitations out of her home. Armed with a website, computer, printer and double-stick-tape-gun, a business was born. Brides flocked to her eagerly, and with word of mouth referrals spreading from bride to bride, the venture was a hit!
The opportunity to open a retail store front presented itself in 2007 shortly after Ruth married Paul and became life and business partners. With dreams of reclaiming the dining room and having a meeting with clients without someone yelling, “DOUBLE NONFAT EXTRA HOT LATTE IS READY”, the first retail location opened in downtown Redmond in a live-work building.
Success overwhelmed the tiny 260 square foot retail space, forcing Paul to convert the attached two car tandem garage into an office space and one car garage. Inevitably the business consumed the entire garage, leaving only a few feet for tools and a mountain bike.
A brand new baby (business partner) emerged on the scene in 2009, making Paper Fling a true “family” business. Now that space was even tighter and Paul’s hope of reclaiming the garage became stronger, the search for Paper Fling’s new home began. After an arduous search and a month long renovation, Paper Fling moved into its current home in the summer of 2009 at the Country Village in Bothell.
